Double Bed Jacquard
Very easy on electronic machine, for punchcard machine needs special punchcards
Set ribber to H. Start with full needle rib, then when carriage is on left set to KC II, knit to right. First row needles are selected, set carriage for DBJ as indicated.
For each pattern row 2 rows are knitted with carriage, yarn changed every second row.
Solid color back DBJ has floats, but they are enclosed between backing and front, floats are in secondary color that is not used for back.
Reversible: front and back are attached only where the color changes.
Birdseye backing:
main bed: slip both sides
ribber: needs to be even number of needles, slip both sides, lili buttons and lever. If you don’t have lili buttons, slip and manually select every second needle on ribber, an return row again select manually every second needle, but the one that was not selected before.
Striped backing:
main bed: slip
ribber: knit each row.
There will be twice as many ribber rows than main bed, therefore knitting looks stretched.
Tuck stitch jacquard:
Main bed: tuck
ribber on knit
this is nearly reversible, very soft, picture not so distinct
Solid color backing:
main bed: slip
ribber: 2 rows slip, 2 rows knit. The color you want the backing knits, the other slips.
Reversible:
main bed: slip
On ribber hand select the needles that are opposite the not selected needles on main bed. Ribber can be pitch (not half pitch)
Blister:
use a thicker yarn for the part that should blister
solid color back, can be knitted that only 1 row knits on back to 2 on front (4 passes with carriage)
