Pile Knitting on Brother Machine
by Jeanie
To pile on the Brother, I put 20 stitches into work on the main bed and had my carriage on the right.
1. Set ribber bed to half pitch (H).
2. Pull 20 needles on ribber to working position. The needles are set up to do full needle rib.
3. Set main carriage to tuck going left and knit going right.
4. Using 2/24 Orlon Acrylic, I had my carriage set to T5.
5. Set the ribber carriage to knit going left (N) and slip going right (PR).
6. My slide lever on the ribber carriage was set to I.
7. I pull my edge stitches on the main bed out to hold position to ensure they knit when I run my carriage.
8. Knit 2 rows.
9. Release the ribber carriage from the ribber arm and run it across the bed and back again (as if knitting 2 rows but without the main carriage attached). This will release the pile loops.
10. I take a transfer tool and run it between the beds to move the pile loops out of the way so they don’t catch on the needles when I knit again.
11. Repeat 7-10.
